Wednesday 1/23

Cold around here, 10 F degrees before sunrise so Aggy has been spending a lot of time indoors. She gets to lay in the sun in her dog lot where she is out of the wind but I usually let it get up above freezing when I put her out there.
When I moved Dusty at sunrise, the farmer's hay was really lit up so I took some photos. It was up to 14 F by then and my feet were getting cold so I didn't fool around too long. The creek still had no ice when I went to get water. I had to get steel to break the animal water as the usual sticks just bounced off.
Carrie and I went to the library in Roanoke to get some true high speed internet. This is her last vacation day.
Tomorrow, I will take my painting over to Blackdog salvage as the coordinate the delivery of their artist's work to the big show.

  1. So cold my indoor/outdoor cat sits at the door looking pitiful and wanting to go out...yet I open the door and he feels how cold it is and runs away. Ha! Glad your dog is staying warm.

    1. We have an 18 year old cat who lives on the porch because she is litter box challenged and she wants to go out in the cold but we keep her where she can get on her electric sleeping pad in her cat box. Our other cats are outdoor models and have figured out how to stay warm, there is a place at the bottom of my smoke stack that stays warm all night.

    1. Barn cats make good pets if you can tame them, they are the fittest of the fit. I see them out hunting in the fields, they very seldom catch birds but spend most of the time sniffing out mice.

  3. aggy sure is pretty and looks quite cozy there! it's been so cold but ozzy still insists on going outside. i put him on his cable while he's out there and he ends up under the house.

love the shot of the sunshine on the hay!

  4. You must consider a painting of Aggy using that picture! Her eyes are mesmerizing. It is double digits below here with windchill so I have to limit yard time for the dog -- although the cold doesn't seem to bother her. We got snow today and she barks something awful at the shovel so I had to keep her inside while I cleared the walk. I am feeling bad for everyone in the South who are not used to these frigid temps. It is one thing if you are experienced and expecting them on a regular basis. It's another thing when the come around out of the blue. Sending warm thoughts your way!

    1. I have been using a steel bar to bust the ice out of the animal water as it is too thick for the usual wooden one which just bounces off. The snow is melting and Dusty is back in the pasture running around like he just got out of jail.
