Lots of rain for several days. Mud everywhere of course.
Fixed a batch of scrapple using some ground pork. After it hardens you cut it into pieces and pan fry it.
The stuff in the store has some strange parts of the pig so I make my own.
Worked on a painting of Dusty for the roanoke spca art show next month. He was caught in a spring shower and he kind of braced himself as the cold rain fell. I took it to Blackdog Salvage today as they get all of their artist to participate if possible and they take the paintings over and submit them. They had an extra canvas so they gave me another one to work on. Not sure which animal I will paint this time.
I vote for Houdini!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have not done one of houdini for this event, I have done the dog, cat, chickens, sheep and pigs so if I have a good photo for 12x12, I may do one of him.
Deleteyum...scrapple! i always remember that grace kelly took lots of it back to monaco each time she came home for a visit!
ReplyDeleteThe stuff in the store has some strange ingredients so I never buy it. Guess I am eating like royalty after all!
DeleteLuv your painting! I think you should paint your dog!
ReplyDeleteI did one for the event several years ago and it sold, she was out on the road to the barn and was pointing at something in the grass.
DeleteNow, does the cold rain hurt Dusty or are horses OK with it? I always worry about them.
ReplyDeleteHe will stand out side the stable in the rain with ice on his back so I don't think it bothers him much. He chooses the rain most of the time, I figure wild horses don't have much shelter.
DeleteI don't think I've ever had scrapple. I don't even know what's in it.
ReplyDeleteIt is ground meat, usually pork, an onion and corn meal. You cook the meat and onion and then boil the corn meal with it and it will thicken up and when cool it slices. I can see all kinds of neat things to put into it to give better flavors.
DeleteThe famous definition of scrapple is that it has "everything but the oink!" I love it a little crispy on the outside but still soft on the inside. I may have to go fry up a batch now!
DeleteI fixed some scrapple for lunch and got it a little more crispy and it was better than the other cooking.
