On Tuesday morning it was 15 degrees F. or at least I think it was that day, I loose track but I had the smoke rolling pretty good looking down the road.
I took down the temporary fence today, Dusty was interested and quit eating to watch me. Lots of weeds in there but he will have to work around them.
Three more loads of wood ready to go into the basement to the furnace room. Really stoking the furnace on the cold windy days and nights.
On a warm day I just burn low quality limbs from mimosa mostly as a lot of them died out for some reason.
On Wednesday morning the rabbit hunters came out to hunt bunnies so I put Dusty behind the house while they were in his field as he doesn't like bunny hunters. He ran up on the hill to watch them. Aggy got put in her run and barked at them until she got tired of it. One of them brought me a sack of chicken feed which was nice of them.
Here is one of Houdini taking it easy on Tuesday afternoon.
Life is so hard, what with walking and eating and all.All tuckered out.
The boys are up before sunrise eating after all so they have to take breaks to chew cud and doze I guess. They have been getting some of the corn that I sealed up to ferment, it smells like wine now and they love it.
While the bunny hunters were there, I worked on my TV antenna project and tried it out using the direct tv box like I saw on the internet and it didn't work. Guess I will need to get one of the converter boxes.
Today it was warmer so I worked outside most of the day. Tore down the old temporary chicken lot fence. Hauled more manure to the garden and worked on various chores with out freezing for a change.
Aaahh! The life of an animal! I'd trade places with Dusty right now ☺
ReplyDeleteSome days I could lay down in the sun and sleep, getting up at 2am to fire the furnace messes me up some days. One of the cats goes out in the loose hay and curls up some days, that looks inviting as well.
DeleteYeah those animals know they got it good.
ReplyDeleteThey get in a moooooood some days.
DeleteHoudini is a cutey! He's getting big too.
ReplyDeleteYour brown cow is good one and you get that good milk! We are in winter here and nearing the end of green grass so the boys will be on hay and grain soon.
DeleteHoundini doesn't look quite like he belongs laying out there in the field. He look like he would be more at home if he were indoors laying on a rug by the woodstove. Everybody is so well cared for. Do you think they know how good they have it with you?
ReplyDeleteI built them a shed but I drive by in the rain and cold and they are outside. He is a smart one and may have been trained to lay inside and it would be easy to shovel the manure out into the garden from there, I will ask the wife.
DeleteI need to get out scooping manure for the garden too.
ReplyDeleteIn a few years you will have 3 manure scoopers but until then you will have to have at it. I keep telling dusty to put it where I can scoop it easy but so far he won't cooperate.
Deletehoudini and dusty are enjoying this warm weather we are having, me too!!
ReplyDeletenow i'm thinking of elmer fudd out there hunting wabbits :)
have a great weekend!
Elmer needed wabbit hounds like these guys, they are fun to watch run around barking and howling.
