Got Carrie on the bus and moved Dusty and was on the hill top checking fence for sunrise. I think it is coming up later now even though the days are getting longer, strange.
The boys were over on the next hill waiting for the sun and their morning grain.
The sun really lit up this old cedar.
Looks warm in the sun but it wasn't.
Went in and got cleaned up and went to town to check for reduced meat at the grocery store but found little. I had to watch all the food stamp people get hundreds of dollars of choice meat, lucky for me they didn't bother with the reduced price stuff.
I did find a reduced pork loin that I plan on slicing and pounding flat and breading, should get 2 meals out of it that way. Cheaper than mcdonalds if you approach it right.
Going to get gas in the car as Debbie will probably need to drive it while we get a strange noise checked out in her car. Going to put in a fence post in the last of Dusty's pasture as the farmer knocked down a post and didn't fix it. So much for the good old christian german baptists.
I love the first pic!!! I try to avoid the store on two buggy days, I always wonder how much of that free (to them) food they waste each month :( I hope Debbies car is an easy fix! Have a good day ☺
ReplyDeleteMy buddy has seen them come out of the store and sell the meat to have the cash for drugs or booze. All they bought was meat so I suspect they were either on a strange diet or doing the same thing.
DeleteThe car was over $400 and then wouldn't start when we picked it up so I just spent another $100 on a battery as it had the original one in it. I don't like the car.
I don't even buy meat anymore, except lunch meat for sandwiches. We raise our own chickens, and other than that most of the meat is too expensive. We do a lot of beans and soups this time of year!
ReplyDeleteI don't buy much meat, I think our chickens would be too tough. I seldom buy chicken anyway usually pork as it turns out. I could eat soup most of the time and did when I was single, I would probably have a revolt if I fixed it too often though.
Deletelove the shot of the sunrise with the cedar! i am really getting excited over the longer days! i was just mentioning this yesterday that it seems like it's staying lighter later. the food lion near me has a great selection of reduced meat. i can really stock up. love when i score like that!
ReplyDeleteI have been buying flour as they have it for 1.77/5 lb at foodlion. I put it in the freezer and fridge to keep it fresh longer though the white stuff is probably indestructible.
DeleteMeat is becoming a luxury like back in the 1800s.
I thought I was the only one that stalks the meat manager of the local Kroger. LOL I got four steaks for 11.00. We had a really nice meal for less than McDonalds.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.
I go to kroger some but usually they are more expensive though their meat looks really nice. I seldom buy any at walmart as they don't even have a butcher, it is all shipped in from some other time zone.
DeleteCold here today also with a brisk wind! I, too, like the sun in the cedar tree! Would have loved some of your sausage pie - looks like a wonderful winter meal.
ReplyDeleteIt was 15 several mornings ago but is warm today, didn't have to break any ice. You would have liked the sausage pie though I would have put more cheese on it for you!
Deletebeautiful shot of the cedar, I suppose less meat is a good thing, (thinking of Houdini;s welfare) lol,
ReplyDeleteI will have to post a guard on him with the price of hamburger. Of course getting meat from him would involve work which most people won't do when someone will give them steak.
DeleteMaybe I will start a web site, "only 30 cents a day will save a poor calves life", could be big money in it.
