No I won't come in the stall, you can't make me come in there... hey wait a minute is that an ear of corn, well I just decided to come inside after all. Stubborn horse.
Dusty being stubborn this morning on the way to pasture. Nope, I'm going to eat grass right here! He soon changed his mind once Debbie got the rope where she could get a good hold on it and change his mind. The boy is getting hard headed these days.
Cold again last night but still no ice forming on the creek as it does on the animal water.
Brought another load of firewood down the trail and across the creek. The wind has been blowing which causes more wood to be used during the day when I could normally let the fire die down some.
Picked some more kale for lunch, chopped up some left over ham into it and added a squirt of honey, turned out real good.
It warmed up some and the wind died down a little this afternoon so I worked on the peach trees. Cut off the white pipe that had protected them for several years and also removed wire from around those that had it. We used to have goats and I had to do all kinds of stuff to protected the trees.
Used the pruning saw to open up the center of the trees and tried to leave limbs that would bend down under weight. I haven't taken as good of care of these trees as I should have. I will have to spray them if I want any peaches as it just doesn't work to not spray these days. I don't like doing it though.
Fed the chickens and calves and took Dusty back to the stable and let him eat along the road on the way. He seems to really enjoy road grass for some reason, it must taste good or he just likes making me wait.
Took trash to the dumpster and then over to mcdonalds for internet. The girls have taken one of the boys to richmond and will be back tomorrow so I will go home and have left overs and watch TV all by myself tonight. Aggy will keep me company.
I love the first pic of Dusty, too funny!!!! I'm thinking about the aquarium pump idea for my goats water, although they might chew on it :/ I'm sick of chipping ice, bringing in waterers, fogging up my glasses trying to melt ice in the sink. I'm ready for spring!!!
ReplyDeleteI just chop for the most part but one year I would bring the chicken water inside and put it back out every morning early. Still a pain to deal with. Happy New Year.
Deletethat kale sound so good! Sounds like a busy day with a nice relaxing evening,
ReplyDeleteI have more kale to cook when I get home but will fix cabbage for new year. Some people from up north fix sauerkraut and pork but we usually do black eyed peas or cabbage, like it makes any difference. Happy New Year in your frosty north land!
DeleteI like the first picture too.. that kale and ham does sounds delish..might have to try it soon..
ReplyDeleteDusty behaved himself this morning as it was cold and I wasn't in the mood for his horse games. Now he is at the gate giving me sad eyes wanting a snack. I will let him get some fresh grass in a few minutes when I get home.
Deletehaha that dusty!! wishing you and your family a happy new year!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you guys, thanks for all of the neat photos this year.
DeleteDusty looks like he was feeling his oats!
ReplyDeleteDusty seems to be a slow quiet horse most of the time but he is full of energy when it suits him. Happy New Year!
