Monday

It was cold, wet and a nasty day to be outside but at least we didn't get any snow or ice. Went into Roanoke and delivered the chicken painting to Black Dog Salvage then got some reduced meat as we can't afford the real fresh stuff. Of course there is no inflation, just high prices, lets see this must be the "Change" everyone wanted, yes that is it higher food prices are great for the economy.
Back home 2 hens were having a stand-off at the current favorite nest box. They stayed like this for several minutes without either moving. I got tired of watching and left so I don't know who won the battle. Not much of a fight as both were too chicken.
I brought over another wheelbarrow load of hay to Dusty's night pasture. He has been eating it for several days and has decided that it is good to eat after all. He turned his nose when I gave it to him earlier as he had lots of grass to eat.
Colman came in and fired up his stove and had the smoke rolling. Nothing like a real fire on a damp day.

  1. When you talk about your neighbor Coleman, it cracks me up. He becomes some sort of mysterious figure woven through your blog. Hidden in the background, yet always there. In his bathrobe. Please don't ever tell us too much about him. I love him better as a lurker.

  2. No that wasn't him in a bathrobe that is the guy at the top of the hill who turns his back when I wave at him for some unknown reason as I have never had a chance to say a word to him. Could be the neighbors warned him of what a vile individual I am since I turned the farmer in for spilling 4000 gallons of manure in the creek. Colman lives in what was my painting studio and he is a really talented blacksmith/metal worker/artist. Of course he has another job to survive so I yell at him when I see him coming in from work or splitting wood.
